Erling Tronvik is currently working as a senior consultant at the Department of Neurology, St.Olavs Hospital, Trondheim Norway and the Norwegian Advisory Unit on Headaches. In addition he has a position as associate professor at the Department of Neuromedicine and Movement Science, NTNU; Norwegian University of Science and Technology where he is responsible for the training of medical students in neurology. His main interest in the headache field is prophylactic treatment of migraine and cluster headache, as this is an area where, in his opinion, too little progress has been made in previous years. The Norwegian Advisory Unit on Headaches is involved in a broad spectrum of headache research from epidemiological studies, neurophysiological trials, genetic research and clinical headache trials. Currently, his main focus is interventional projects, using image-guided techniques to target neural structures in the head/neck area in headache conditions.
